the crimson rosella is a small species of parrot native to australia, with an introduced population in new zealand. despite their name, there are several subspecies of crimson rosella that are varying shades - once designated a seperate species, the ‘yellow’ morph is a pale yellow with blue markings. crimson rosellas also regularly hybridize with other rosellas, such as the eastern rosella. they mainly feed on fruits and seeds. rosellas are less common throughout the world, but are popular pets in australia.
